
After the parents of at least eight students from the Francoise Dolto Institute reported suffering severe burns due to alleged negligence by a teacher on April 29, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Oaxaca proceeded to secure the institution's facilities. The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Justice for Girls, Boys, and Adolescents is conducting investigations related to the incident in which minors were injured by burns, which occurred just before the celebration of Children's Day.
A multidisciplinary team conducted ministerial and expert work in the building located on Berriozábal Street, in the Center of the city of Oaxaca de Juárez, gathering evidence that was incorporated into the investigations. Additionally, the property was secured. Investigations are ongoing to determine responsibility for the events.
According to the investigation file, on April 29, 2025, the students from the Francoise Dolto Institute attended a camp as part of the Children's Day celebrations. During the event, around a bonfire, an adult threw alcoholic alcohol, which fueled the fire, causing burns to several minors with injuries of varying severity.
The Oaxaca Prosecutor's Office is conducting investigations with specialized teams in crimes against minors to ensure comprehensive care for the victims, both direct and indirect, so they have full access to the justice processes. By Monday, May 5, the parents of the affected children called a press conference to inform about the situation related to the tragic accident at the institute's facilities.
